The second episode brings an emphasis on aviation related topics. We start with CAPT Dan ‘Bad Bob’ McCort, retired US Navy fighter pilot. Dan retired as the Training Air Wing Six Commodore and has had a storied career flying numerous fighters including F4, F14 and F18 aircraft, among many others. Here he recounts a moment from his earliest experiences flying the F4 Phantom and a gentleman named GEN Chappie James.
We also had the opportunity to talk with LCDR Mikal ‘Butch’ Kissick. Former F14 RIO and TOPGUN graduate. Butch is also the owner of Wings Aviation in Pensacola just outside the front gate to NAS Pensacola. He has a couple of ‘must hear’ stories.
CAPT Scott ‘Mongo’ Janik takes us on a back seat ride with Blue Angel #5, Tyler ‘Feedbag’ Davies. You have to see this takeoff to believe it!
Our ‘Artist in the Spotlight’ is Flightline photographer Katie Bodden. Her work is spectacular and she is also a favorite of the Blue Angels team.
We go back a couple of years with Dick Pace as he takes a ride in an SNJ around Pensacola. Dick flew SNJ’s as a student and instructor during WWII before becoming fighter pilot in the Hellcat F6F. His 102 years were packed with amazing experiences.
Last, but not least, we check in on Daniela’s (@danielapaints) progress with the Hellcat Hangar mural!
